I just spent some time in a couple of bookstores in Paris -- seeing old favorites with new eyes in the "Roman Policier" section.

A British writer called R.J. Ellory is taken very seriously there -- also Harlan Coben, Dennis Lehane (beautiful editions) and James Ellroy, of course. Scandinavians without end.

Went staright to Amazon and ordered an Ellory. Almost a galvanic reaction, at this point.
