A question that occurred to Tulkinghorn, too

Mickey Kaus asks (and do I really have to provide the name behind the blind item?):

Why would you leave a recurring part on a hit TV show--a job you "loved" --to become a mid-level liaison official in the White House? Either you are crazy or you have huge political ambitions. Or both.
As someone pointed out, he has to do better than poor Bobby Jindal....

It's easy to make snide comments about Bobby Jindal, but the fact is that he is a successful Governor and is my age. I don't care if he isn't as eloquent as our President, the guy is remarkable.

One of the main reasi9ns the blogosphere runs on the post-modern form of snideness known as snark.

I like Kal Penn, too. And my daughter loves him. He'll be the administrations outreach guy to the Asian community. Makes perfect sense.

FYI: He was a poli sci major at Stanford.

Lack of eloquence or charisma has been a (if not the) primary force behind any number of failed or underachieving presidencies or candidacies. Without regard to ideology: Both Bushes, Nixon, Dole, Clinton(Mrs.), Dukakis, Romney.....

I don't slight Jindal's intelligence. I do believe he showed himself to be, at present, completely unqualified for higher office.

Unqualified or unelectable?

No meaningful distinction between the two.

George Bush was a terrible politician who barely beat two of the worst Presidential candidates of my lifetime and was neither inspiring or articulate. The political sufferings of the last eight years were as much a result of that as of all the usual suspects.
