Elmore

“Your prose makes Raymond Chandler look clumsy.’’--Martin Amis to Elmore Leonard at the Writers Guild Theatre, Beverly Hills, 1998.

Road Dogs except.

“. . .nobody I’ve ever read sets up pace, mood and sound better than Elmore Leonard. . .[He] is the greatest living writer of crime fiction.”--Barry Gifford, New York Times Book Review

About halfway into a staff meeting at Disney a long time ago, the head of the department that had me as a lawyer gave me a stare and asked (to the ill-hidden snickers of my co-workers) "Are you condescending to me?"

I assured him that I was not.

Meaning that you were (and in general can't help yourself) or that you are often unjustly accused?
