I don't open KCRW links...only KPCC links.

Spoken like a true East-sider. I applaud your stand against the smug and segregationist KCRW

Smug, yes. But "segregationist"?

Perhaps I should have said: Putting forth a view of the city that is mono-cultured, wealthy, and white -- where even the popular music programming is dominated by the hip and/or European. (except for their dance music series late at night.. I won't go there.)

Draw a rectangle with the 101 on the north, the ocean on the west, the 110 on the east, and the 10 on the south: KCRW-land.

The eastern border should actually be La Brea, but I had to find some way to fit Silver Lake and the white parts of Echo Park...

I heard about the new Lucinda and PJ releases first on KCRW, so for the time being all is forgiven.

And BTW: Is KPCC not playing more of less to the same demo? In Pasadena?

KPCC is a news station, with no cultural programming.... Their local news programming is comparatively rooted (and one or two of the local hosts have been accused -- probably falsely -- of being conservative)

At any rate, it has become the dominant NPR station in the market with significantly higher ratings than KCRW, which is now essentially a local station for the west side.
