The Importance of Being Snooki

Been trying all day to figure out what this video -- which is one of five made by the stars of a current production of "The Importance of Being Earnest" -- demonstrates.

Does a good performance redeem bad material, or are the kids on "Jersey Shore" really witty?

Sheer Genius!

First, I will say that if you were to film pretty much an group of people in an in vino veritas situation 24/7 and turn 5 days of footage into a 1/hr episode, you would be able to pull together some genuine wit.

I think it is the rare person who is unable of creating wit at all. The skill comes in being able to create wit upon command, or contemplation.

As for who is responsible for any of the true wit on "Jersey Shore." Certainly, The Situation deserves some credit, as does Snooki, but the real credit lies with the editors of the show.

The editors are the people who take the Truth (the raw footage) into a shadowy back room, strap it into a dentists chair, and proceed to go at it like mad scientists. They are the geniuses.
