The movie version of the Doctor. Yates is a talented guy, but this is really dumb:
"We're looking at writers now. We're going to spend two to three years to get it right," he said. "It needs quite a radical transformation to take it into the bigger arena."

Hop on over to TOH to "talk" casting possibilities! (I vote for Hugh Laurie.)
"Tulk Talks Who?" "Yes." Etc.
"Is Hugh Who?" Also not bad.
Casting for that role is particularly meaningless, since the character is potentially unformed -- although since the Baker days, there's been a certain earnest posh boyishness (or post-boyishness) that almost anyone from Daniel Radcliffe to Michael Gambon could do.
Of course, I'd LIKE to see James McEvoy do it, but the difference between him and the current incumbent is small.
Whoever they chose, can't be any wprse than Tom Cruise as Jack Reacher.
